Bishop+Rook proudly presents Project Skye III - a beautiful Land Rover Defender 110 300Tdi finished in a stunning finish of merlot red. https://www.bishoprook.com/listings/skyeiii/ We acquired this Land Rover Defender 110 from a Hot Air Balloon pilot who was retiring after years of service flying passengers around the world.  The company he owned used a pair of Defenders as support vehicles to track down the balloons where they landed across the countryside - giving passengers a first-class return trip back to the base.  One could argue that the return trip might have been better than the main event. This Land Rover Defender has recently completed a Preservation Series refresh.  This included a complete exterior strip and respray in Merlot Red.  Due to the unique history of the vehicle, we love to keep as much of the original style of the Defender in place for the new keepers.  In this case, we are doing our best to maintain the original factory correct interior, while completing an extensive mechanical certification and refurbishment process. #defender #landroverdefender #defender110
We get a lot of questions about how long it takes to complete a Land Rover Defender restoration project. While the timeline might vary depending on the build level - it's typically 600-1,600 hours over the course of a year or so. In the case of our Project Steele build, we decided to combine a lot of the assembly work into a short 8 hour sprint to show how much work can be done when you're properly prepared. https://www.bishoprook.com
The crew at our Salisbury, England Bishop+Rook workshop took on the task of building a Land Rover Defender in a day. Granted, they did have about 8 months of prep work to do, but it's still an impressive task.
The preservation of a Project Toto - a vintage Land Rover (Pre-Defender) 110 - continues at the Bishop+Rook Salisbury Workshop. The team walks you through some behind-the-scenes elements of the work required to build a proper Land Rover. https://www.bishoprook.com/project-toto-def…me-episode-three This series of films will take you through a Preservation Series restoration and show you the differences between this approach and a complete nut-and-bolt Heritage Land Rover Defender Restoration. Not all Defender restoration projects require a complete disassembly - some projects should stay partially assembled.
The Bishop+Rook team continues work on Project Toto. On the last episode of Defender Rescue, we introduced you to Project Toto – a 1987 Land Rover 110 we recently acquired. In reviewing the paperwork that came with the vehicle, we uncovered a very interesting provenance. While born in Solihull, England, this particular Land Rover spent the first part of its life roaming West Africa. Based on a diplomatic mission in Lagos, Nigeria, her first caretakers put on nearly 100,000 KM over a period of 5-years exploring the region before Overlanding home with a group of fellow Land Rover driving diplomats. With such a documented history, we decided it was best that we try to preserve as much of her originality as possible.
